Restaurant Utility Worker

Role overview

Zaxbys is looking for a Restaurant Utility Worker to help keep the restaurant clean, safe, and functioning smoothly. This role centers on upkeep, sanitation, and basic maintenance of both the building and equipment. The restaurant is presented as a fun, team-oriented place to work and serve guests.

What the job involves

• Handle routine cleaning tasks, scheduled cleaning, and unscheduled day-to-day upkeep of the restaurant.
• Carry out deep-cleaning work, including pressure washing inside and outside the location.
• Perform basic maintenance and routine preventive care for restaurant equipment.
• Check, operate, and test equipment to identify problems and malfunctions.
• Help address minor lighting issues and complete simple repairs when needed.
• Inspect grounds, plumbing, electrical fixtures, outlets, kitchen equipment, and the building for preventive maintenance needs.
• Read and follow equipment manuals, work orders, safety procedures, operating instructions, and related documents.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date maintenance records.
• Keep the location operating to company standards and in compliance with all applicable Zaxby’s Franchising LLC and Zax LLC policies and procedures.
• Work safely at all times and follow required safety practices.
• Communicate concerns to the General Manager or District Manager, especially those related to human resources or risk management.
• Raise other issues to a supervisor as appropriate.
• Support additional tasks needed to keep restaurant operations running properly.

Training, schedule, and working conditions

The role requires completion of all training required by Zax LLC. Team members must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Full-time availability is 32 to 40 hours per week. The position may involve both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to hot and cold temperatures and food or outdoor allergens.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Full-time applicants must be available for 32 to 40 hours each week.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Leadership ability, organizational skills, and a cooperative attitude are expected.

Physical demands

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk continuously.
• Occasional stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing, including ladder use.
• Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of up to 50 pounds, including overhead lifting.
• Continuous use of hands and wrists for grasping and detailed handling.
• Ability to communicate clearly through speaking, reading, and writing.
• Good visual and auditory awareness to observe and respond to surroundings.
• Comfort working around restaurant equipment such as knives, fryers, and other potentially hazardous tools.
