பணி விளக்கம்
Overview
Auckland Council is inviting expressions of interest for full-time planning roles at planner, intermediate planner, and senior planner levels. These positions are based across Central Auckland, Albany, and Manukau City Centre, and focus on either resource consent processing within geographical and streamline teams or building consent plan checks. The roles are hybrid in nature, with flexible working available where possible, and include the option to buy an additional week of leave.
What you will do
- Assess a wide range of resource consent applications and prepare recommendations that support strong planning outcomes.
- Work in a collaborative way, drawing on local government or private-sector planning experience to contribute to the city.
- Serve as a reporting planner at Council hearings, with the chance for intermediate and senior planners to act as expert witnesses.
- Support the Team Leader by coaching and developing junior planners.
- For senior roles, step into a second-in-charge capacity when needed and make delegated decisions on resource consents.
- Take part in a strong internal training and support environment.
About you
You should bring planning experience along with a tertiary qualification in urban planning, resource management, or a closely related discipline, ideally recognised by NZPI. A sound understanding of the Resource Management Act 1991, plus awareness of proposed and upcoming legislative changes, is important. Strong case management ability is also needed, along with a restricted or full clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
Employment details
These are full-time onsite roles, although flexible and hybrid working arrangements may be available. The salary band is NZD 76,000 to 130,000 per year, and KiwiSaver contributions are provided on top of base pay. Auckland Council also highlights its employee benefits and support for inclusive, accessible recruitment.
Additional information
Auckland Council is the largest local government council in Oceania and serves more than 1.7 million people. The organisation states that it is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity and inclusion. Applicants who need support or access adjustments are encouraged to mention this when applying so assistance can be arranged during the recruitment process.
