Role Overview

The Reporter position involves researching and crafting news stories and feature articles that showcase the initiatives and influence of the Global Dryland Alliance. This role is based full-time on-site in Doha, Qatar.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend events, briefings, and field visits to gather information firsthand.
• Conduct interviews with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Verify facts thoroughly to maintain balanced and accurate reporting.
• Write and tailor content for diverse media channels including web, print, and multimedia.
• Collaborate with communications and program teams to ensure story alignment with organizational goals.
• Monitor regional and global news daily to generate relevant story ideas.
• Meet editorial deadlines while upholding high journalistic and ethical standards.

Candidate Qualifications

• Proven expertise in reporting and news writing, with an ability to produce clear, precise, and timely articles.
• Excellent communication and writing capabilities, able to simplify complex information clearly.
• Multimedia skills incorporating basic photography, audio or video production, and familiarity with digital publication platforms.
• Strong research, fact-checking skills, critical thinking, and keen attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or equivalent professional experience.
• Fluent in English; additional proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
• Capability to work collaboratively on-site in Doha and adapt to dynamic, deadline-focused environments.
• Previous experience covering international development, climate change, agriculture, or policy topics is an asset.
