Overview
The Quantity Surveying Team Leader at Nesma Infrastructure & Technology serves as the key support to the Quantity Survey Manager, overseeing contract administration, claims, and commercial processes within the Quantity Survey Department. This position is instrumental in leading the QS team to manage client and subcontractor payment certifications, variations, claims, and cost reporting, ensuring comprehensive commercial oversight on projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and guide both junior and senior Quantity Surveyors within the team.
- Delegate assignments, establish priorities, and monitor task progress to ensure deadlines are met.
- Oversee quantity surveying activities before and after contract award stages.
- Prepare, scrutinize, and finalize interim and final payment certificates for clients.
- Prepare, review, and complete payment certificates for subcontractors and vendors.
- Manage variations, change orders, and claims with accurate valuation and documentation.
- Assist in resolving commercial and contractual disputes.
- Evaluate payment certificates submitted by subcontractors and vendors.
- Generate periodic commercial, financial, and cost-related reports.
- Collaborate with project management, procurement, engineering, and construction teams.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate smooth project execution.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control methodologies.
- Experience with tendering, procurement, and contract administration, preferably familiar with FIDIC and NEC standards.
- Proficient in measurement and valuation using standardized methods.
- Strong leadership capabilities including effective delegation and team management.
- Competency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Oracle software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least twelve years of experience in Quantity Surveying, ideally within infrastructure or industrial projects.
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with contracts, variations, claims, and cost management.
- Fluent in English, demonstrating strong leadership and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Readiness to work onsite in challenging or remote environments.
- PMP certification is a preferred qualification.
