Role Summary
This full-time, on-site QA/QC Inspector position is based at the Port Dickson refinery. The role focuses on checking equipment, materials, and ongoing work activities to confirm they meet company requirements, legal obligations, and relevant industry standards. The inspector also reviews quality documents such as inspection records, test results, welding logs, and quality control plans, and documents any deviations along with recommended corrective actions.
Key Duties
- Carry out inspections on equipment, materials, and work methods to verify compliance with internal standards and external codes.
- Examine and validate inspection reports, test documentation, welding records, and quality plans.
- Identify non-conformances and record clear, practical recommendations for correction.
- Monitor construction, maintenance, and turnaround work to ensure quality requirements are being followed.
- Perform visual and dimensional checks for welding and fabrication activities.
- Work closely with engineers, contractors, and operations personnel to close out quality issues.
- Assist with audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement efforts related to safety, reliability, and product quality.
Qualification Requirements
- Technical skills in quality control and quality assurance, including the application of procedures, standards, and best practices in a refinery or other heavy industrial setting.
- Capability in quality management, including maintaining documentation, supporting audit activities, and contributing to improvement initiatives.
- Inspection expertise, including visual and dimensional assessment of equipment, materials, and completed work, with familiarity with industrial and safety codes.
- Knowledge of welding inspection, including weld quality checks, interpretation of welding procedures and drawings, and awareness of common defects and test methods.
- A relevant technical diploma or engineering qualification in mechanical, materials, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications in quality or welding inspection such as CSWIP, AWS, or API are considered an advantage.
- Experience in refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects, with a solid understanding of HSE requirements and safe work practices.
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and standards accurately, with strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary site teams and contractors.
