Role Summary
AECOM is hiring an experienced Project Director - PMCM in Doha, Qatar to lead large and complex project management and construction management assignments. The role is responsible for guiding projects from early planning through execution and closeout, making sure they are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality level.
The position involves directing multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and strengthening delivery performance across all project stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of project management and construction management work, keeping delivery aligned with business goals and client expectations.
- Create detailed plans, schedules, and budgets, then track progress and apply corrective measures when performance needs improvement.
- Manage and coach project teams while encouraging teamwork and maintaining effective communication with all parties involved.
- Control project spending, apply cost-saving measures, and maintain financial discipline throughout the project.
- Identify project risks early, evaluate their impact, and build practical contingency plans to reduce disruption.
- Handle contract-related activities, including supplier selection, negotiation, and ongoing performance review.
- Maintain compliance with quality requirements, safety rules, and construction regulations applicable in Qatar.
- Keep stakeholders informed with regular updates on status, milestones, deliverables, and overall progress.
- Review performance data and prepare detailed reports for senior leadership and clients.
- Apply strong project management practices and continuously improve delivery methods and processes.
Requirements
- At least 20 years of progressive experience in project management and construction management.
- Strong background in managing major construction or infrastructure projects.
- Good understanding of project management methods and frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Oracle Primavera, or similar software.
- Solid capability in budgeting, cost tracking, and financial analysis.
- Experience in contract administration and procurement.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Highly organized, accurate, and detail focused.
- Skilled in identifying, assessing, and managing risks.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control practices.
- Awareness of construction safety standards and regulations.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification is preferred.
- Experience working on construction projects in the Middle East is preferred.
- Knowledge of Qatar construction standards and regulatory requirements is preferred.
