About the Role
The Production Planner at CIRCOR International, Inc., located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, will be responsible for creating and sustaining production and materials plans that guarantee timely customer deliveries while optimizing inventory, capacity, and resources. This role acts as the vital connection between departments including Sales, SIOP, Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, and Quality.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop weekly and monthly production plans aligned with customer demand and business priorities.
- Translate customer orders and forecasts into actionable manufacturing schedules, balancing capacity and resource availability.
- Monitor production progress and proactively address planning challenges.
- Participate in Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) meetings to analyze demand trends, backlog, forecast accuracy, and capacity needs.
- Identify and communicate risks or constraints, and propose recovery strategies during planning reviews.
- Ensure material availability by coordinating with SCM and suppliers to avoid shortages, focusing on critical components and long lead items.
- Assist in inventory optimization programs.
- Review and set realistic execution plans for customer orders, tracking milestones from order registration to dispatch.
- Liaise with Project Management and Engineering teams to assure timely release of Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and technical documents.
- Escalate delays and lead corrective action efforts promptly.
- Assess machine and manpower utilization to identify bottlenecks and recommend capacity enhancements.
- Support decisions related to make-vs-buy and subcontracting requirements.
- Maintain accurate planning data in ERP systems (QAD, SAP, Oracle) including routing, lead times, BOMs, and other parameters.
- Generate reports and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as On-Time Delivery, Schedule Adherence, Production Plan Attainment, Inventory Turns, Material Availability, Forecast Accuracy, Backlog Management, Capacity Utilization, Cost Reduction, and Customer Delivery Performance.
Candidate Profile
- Technical expertise in production planning, Material Requirement Planning (MRP), capacity planning, inventory management, and ERP systems (QAD, SAP, Oracle).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively with a sense of ownership and accountability.
- Demonstrated capability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage risks proactively.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in production, supply, or materials planning.
- Preference for candidates with experience in manufacturing environments involving machining, assembly or valve, pump, or equipment manufacturing.
