Role Overview
The Product Manager will spearhead product strategy and commercial success for BYD's Passenger Vehicles in Canada. Acting as the vital link between Canadian market demands and BYD's global product teams, the role ensures alignment in product features, pricing, launches, and compliance with local market expectations and regulations. The position involves market research, competitive analysis, product launch leadership, and localization efforts to enhance BYD's foothold in the Canadian automotive sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed market and competitor research to identify trends, pricing, incentives, and growth opportunities specific to the Canadian automotive market.
- Monitor and analyze competitor product offerings, pricing strategies, and sales metrics to inform product positioning and planning.
- Produce comprehensive market intelligence and benchmarking reports, along with pricing recommendations.
- Assess customer demand, segment vehicle markets, and pinpoint growth potential.
- Oversee product sales performance, market share, and customer feedback; recommend strategies to enhance profitability and market penetration.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Network Development to boost product success and market share.
- Lead and coordinate vehicle launch efforts across Canada, managing all timelines, training, approvals, and stakeholder communications.
- Gather and analyze feedback from customers, dealers, and partners to inform market-specific product adaptations and improvements.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams including Engineering, Compliance, and Supply Chain to facilitate localization efforts and support product compliance.
- Provide regular, data-driven updates and strategic insights to senior management on market developments and product performance.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related fields.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience with a minimum of 3 years in product management, planning, or marketing within the automotive industry.
- Prior experience with an automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is strongly preferred.
- In-depth understanding of the Canadian passenger vehicle market, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape.
- Demonstrated skills in data analysis, market research, competitor benchmarking, and pricing strategy.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
- Fluency in English required; French and Mandarin language skills are advantageous.
- Valid Canadian driver's license and willingness to travel within Canada as needed.
- Experience supporting vehicle launches and product lifecycle management is highly desirable.
