About the Role

An excellent opening exists for a Business Intelligence Developer to join an expanding Analytics team within a large mission-driven organisation undergoing considerable transformation to its data and reporting capabilities. This newly created position involves helping to establish a modern analytics environment from scratch. You will work with a greenfield cloud data platform, playing a crucial part in developing trusted reports, enhancing data maturity, and laying the groundwork for future Machine Learning and AI projects.

Reporting to the Analytics Lead, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders across the business to convert complex data into actionable insights by delivering high-quality Power BI reporting solutions that promote better organisational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Create, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting tools.
Use SQL to model and transform data within contemporary cloud data platforms.
Develop and govern Gold and Semantic Layers to ensure reliable reporting standards.
Partner with stakeholders to collect reporting requirements and define meaningful business metrics.
Establish reporting guidelines, governed metrics, and data dictionaries.
Enhance the overall reporting capabilities and data maturity throughout the organisation.
Contribute to building and evolving a modern enterprise analytics infrastructure.
Support foundational work for future Machine Learning and AI initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Approximately 3 to 4 years of commercial experience in BI, analytics, or reporting roles.
Proficiency in Power BI development.
Strong skills in SQL, especially with data modelling and analytics.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Comfortable interacting with senior business leaders.
Experienced in gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting solutions.
Background working with modern cloud data warehouse technologies.

Technical Skills

Power BI development expertise.
Advanced SQL ability.
Experience with cloud data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or Databricks.
Competency in data modelling and dashboard creation.
Proven skills in stakeholder engagement and business requirements analysis.
Solid background in reporting and analytics.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with Snowflake and DBT tools.
Understanding of Medallion Architecture and data warehousing concepts.
Experience in finance reporting or analytics.
Work background in healthcare, aged care, or the not-for-profit sector.
