Plumber

Role overview

This position is within the Engineering & Facilities function at Marriott International in Accra, Ghana. It is a full-time, non-management role based onsite at the property.

What you will do

• Handle basic plumbing issues such as clearing blocked drains.
• Put together pipe sections, tubing, and fittings for installation work.
• Test pipes and plumbing fixtures with water or air to identify leaks and pinpoint problem areas.
• Read and interpret blueprints, building codes, and technical specifications.
• Review building plans and inspect structures to plan plumbing installations correctly.
• Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the needed dimensions and angles.
• Install and service pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, and fixtures.
• Carry out other minor repair work as needed.
• Perform preventive upkeep on tools and equipment.

Working standards and physical requirements

• Comply with company rules, safety procedures, and security guidelines.
• Report hazards, accidents, and injuries, and complete required safety training and certifications.
• Keep uniform and personal appearance neat and professional.
• Protect confidential information and company property.
• Greet guests in line with company standards and respond promptly to service needs.
• Work cooperatively with others and communicate in a clear, professional manner.
• Maintain quality standards in all tasks.
• Be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place items up to 75 pounds without help.
• Assist with moving and positioning items over 100 pounds when needed.
• Handle objects of different sizes and weights by grasping, turning, and manipulating them.
• Work in positions that involve reaching overhead or below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Use ladders safely and spend extended periods standing, sitting, or walking.
• Complete any other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• A Technical, Trade, or Vocational School degree is preferred.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience is preferred.
• No supervisory experience is required.
• A Stationary Engineer/Boiler Operator License is required.
• A Plumber Certification is required.
