Phlebotomist

Overview

We are seeking a proficient and patient-centered Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The primary responsibility is to safely collect blood and other clinical specimens from patients, ensuring accurate labeling, documentation, and secure transportation of samples. Adhering to infection control protocols, biomedical waste management, and quality standards is crucial while maintaining excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct venipuncture and capillary blood draws efficiently and securely.
• Confirm patient identity prior to sample collection.
• Properly label, document, and track all collected specimens.
• Comply with established standard operating procedures for sample collection and handling.
• Ensure correct storage and prompt transport of specimens to laboratories.
• Maintain infection control measures and dispose of biomedical waste as per protocols.
• Prepare and upkeep phlebotomy tools and collection supplies.
• Deliver courteous, professional, and compassionate care to patients.
• Keep accurate records through laboratory information systems or manual registers.
• Assist with home sample collections when required.
• Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure timely sample processing.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the work environment.
• Adhere to NABL/NABH quality standards and company policies where applicable.

Eligibility & Qualifications

• Completion of 10+2 in Science plus certification or diploma in DMLT, BMLT, MLT, or Phlebotomy.
• Fresh candidates with relevant training are welcome.
• Preference given to those with 1-2 years’ experience in diagnostic labs, hospitals, or sample collection centers.

Skills and Attributes

• Strong proficiency in venipuncture and blood collection techniques.
• Knowledge of specimen handling and transportation protocols.
• Understanding of infection control and biomedical waste disposal methods.
• Effective communication and patient interaction skills.
• Meticulous attention to documentation and detail.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to work shifts and perform under pressure.

Preferred

• Experience with home sample collection is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Vacutainer blood collection systems.
• Possession of two-wheeler and valid driving license preferred for field/home collections.

Compensation and Benefits

• Monthly salary between 20000 and 28000 INR, aligned with industry standards.
