Role overview
This full-time field position is focused on delivering professional pest management services for residential customers in Gurnee, Illinois. The work centers on inspecting homes, identifying the source and type of infestation, applying the right treatment methods, and helping customers prevent pests from returning. What you will do
- Inspect customer properties carefully to find pest activity, related damage, and possible entry points.
- Use approved pest control tools and materials such as baits, chemicals, and traps while following safety rules.
- Explain prevention techniques to customers and advise them on how to reduce the chance of repeat infestations.
- Develop customer relationships, confirm and schedule visits, assist with selling services to current clients, and help grow the customer base.
- Keep pest control equipment clean, stocked, and in proper working order.
- Follow all applicable local, state, and federal rules on pest control products and safety practices.
- Operate a company-provided service vehicle safely; routine maintenance is handled by the employer.
Working conditions and physical demands
- Work may involve confined areas such as basements, attics, crawl spaces, narrow aisles, and passageways.
- The role includes exposure to animals, insects, termites, mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, heights, scaffolding, fumes, dust, and chemicals; training is provided for safe handling.
- Both indoor and outdoor work is required in local weather conditions, with company-provided weather gear.
- The job involves frequent movement, including sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
- Personal protective equipment, including an OSHA-compliant respirator, must be worn when required.
Requirements
- A clean-shaven face is required for safety because rebreathers must form a secure seal.
- A high school diploma or GED is required, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
- A valid driver’s license from the state of residence is required.
- Any licenses or certificates required by federal, state, or local authorities must be obtained; the employer covers those requirements.
- Availability for Monday through Friday work, with weekends as needed, is required.
- Willingness to learn the full pest control field and build expertise is expected.
- Strong reading, writing, and speaking skills are needed.
- Basic math ability is necessary for following product-label mixing instructions.
- Customer-facing experience is preferred.
Compensation and benefits
The base hourly pay range is $18.00 to $19.00. Total earnings may also vary depending on overtime, incentives, commissions, performance, route assignment, and location, as well as skills, education, and experience.
