Job description

Position Overview

The University of Tampa's Department of Biology within the College of Natural & Health Sciences is seeking part-time instructors to teach non-majors biology courses and introductory biology for majors. These positions involve instructing one or more lecture sections or lab sessions, typically meeting three hours per week per semester.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures for non-majors biology or introductory biology for majors, including lab sections if assigned.
  • Select appropriate lecture textbooks for non-majors courses.
  • Provide academic assistance to students inside and outside the classroom environment.
  • Develop and distribute syllabi each semester adhering to departmental learning outcomes and university general education goals.
  • Schedule and hold office hours or meeting times for student support as required.
  • Administer exams and assignments along with grading responsibilities.
  • Manage grading systems, whether online or paper-based.
  • Assess and document student progress in relation to university general education objectives.

Qualifications

  • Possession of at least a Master's Degree in Biology or a related discipline is mandatory; a Ph.D. is highly preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience specifically with non-majors or introductory biology courses is advantageous.
