பணி விளக்கம்
Job purpose
This role is responsible for carrying out aircraft refuelling and defuelling activities safely, on time, and in full alignment with aviation rules, airport regulations, and ADNOC Aviation standards. The position also involves coordinating with customer representatives at the aircraft, escalating operational or safety concerns, and reporting any equipment defects to the supervisor and maintenance team.
In addition, the operator is expected to complete product quality checks according to ADNOC Aviation Division quality control procedures and work in strict observance of HSE requirements, airport safety rules, and ADNOC's integrated management system.
Fuelling operations
The operator handles refuelling and defuelling of customer aircraft according to the assigned schedule and all applicable procedures. Before starting work, the operator collects the required flight and fuelling details from the supervisor, including fuel quantity, dispenser or fueller type, parking stand, gate number, and aircraft type.
Before approaching the aircraft, the refuelling vehicle must be checked for defects, and any issue must be reported immediately. The vehicle is then driven on the apron within the speed limits and positioned correctly near the aircraft. Bonding hoses are connected where required, and all hoses and nozzles must be secured according to standard practice. After fuelling is completed, the hoses and bonding connections are disconnected safely.
While fuel is being supplied, the operator remains alert to the vehicle, aircraft, and surrounding area to maintain safety. The refuelling process includes connecting the hose, taking samples, completing the receipt, and ensuring all documentation is filled out accurately. The customer representative or agent must sign the relevant documents, and a signed copy must be handed over.
After completion, the operator either returns to the depot or proceeds to another aircraft as directed, while ensuring safety for property and apron personnel. The operator must also confirm the fuel requirement with the aircraft technician or pilot and begin fuelling only after receiving the instruction. Visual fuel checks must be performed during fuelling and at completion in line with the Aviation Quality Manual.
Refuelling with refueller vehicle
The operator checks the available fuel quantity in the assigned refueller and drives it in accordance with airport safety and security rules. The vehicle must be parked safely and the fuelling equipment connected as per the Aviation Operating Manual. Fueling begins only after confirmation from the aircraft technician or pilot. Delivery tickets must be completed using the car PC or by manual ticket where needed. Once fuelling is finished, the equipment must be disconnected correctly and all hoses verified. The refueller may also need to be loaded under the supervisor's instruction.
Defuelling
For defuelling tasks, the operator positions the refueller correctly, confirms the flight details, and takes a sample from the aircraft tank for quality control testing as required by procedure. The fuelling equipment is connected as specified in the Aviation Operating Manual, and the defuelling process starts only after instruction from the aircraft technician or pilot.
The operator stops defuelling based on the refueller's capacity and the technician's advice, completes the delivery ticket, disconnects the equipment safely, and confirms that all hoses are in place. Once finished, the shift supervisor must be informed and further instructions awaited.
HSE and emergency response
The role requires strict compliance with emergency plans, evacuation procedures, PPE rules, and all safety regulations. The operator must be able to use safety equipment and fire extinguishers, take part in HSE campaigns, training sessions, awareness activities, and drills, and immediately report incidents and near misses to the supervisor.
Fire-fighting operations
The operator is also expected to carry out routine and unannounced inspections of critical operational areas and facilities to ensure fire equipment remains serviceable. This includes checking, cleaning, and testing firefighting tools and apparatus such as hoses, fittings, hydrants, ladders, and handheld extinguishers.
If a fire or accident alarm is raised from the plant control room, the operator must respond promptly, assess the route to the incident, connect hoses to fixed hydrants, and begin firefighting using the correct equipment for the type and source of fire. Emergency actions must be taken as required by the situation to ensure a fast response.
Product quality
Fuel samples must be taken regularly before, during, and after refuelling from the filter inlet, sump, and outlet as per procedure to verify fuel quality. The operator may also be assigned quality checks on fixed and mobile equipment in line with aviation requirements.
Equipment maintenance and depot tasks
The operator carries out daily, weekly, and monthly serviceability checks on mobile and stationary fuelling equipment when assigned. The job may also involve manual depot and apron work such as cleaning pits, pulling hoses, connecting and disconnecting equipment, taking samples, and replenishing refuellers according to procedures.
Additional tasks include topping up gas oil in mobile units when required and reporting defects or issues to the shift supervisor while recording them in the maintenance logbook.
Customer support
The operator provides practical support to customers when needed and may guide them toward safe operating practices. Any customer concerns should be escalated to the shift supervisor.
Qualifications, experience, and certifications
A secondary or high school certificate is required, along with 3 years of experience as a fuelling operator. The role also requires a valid UAE manual heavy-duty driving licence, a valid UAE light-duty driving licence preferably manual, and a valid forklift licence where required by site conditions.
