About the Role
This position supports aerodrome and airside reporting activities at McArthur River Mine (MRM), helping keep airport operations safe, efficient, and compliant. The role includes routine inspections, basic maintenance tasks, and prompt action on any hazards affecting aircraft, staff, or operations.
About the Site
Glencore’s McArthur River Mine is a major zinc-lead operation with a long operating life. The mine is located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, about 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. It produces zinc, lead, and silver from an open-cut mine, with material transported to the Bing Bong loading facility for shipment to customers around the world. These commodities are used in products that support mobility, infrastructure, and communications.

Responsibilities
- Support aerodrome reporting and general upkeep across MRM aerodromes.
- Carry out routine inspections of airside areas, including runways and lighting systems.
- Identify unsafe conditions and arrange repairs or other corrective measures.
- Help maintain compliance with aviation safety and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to a secure operating environment for aircraft and on-site personnel.
Requirements
- Certificate III in Aviation (Ground Operations and Service).
- Training in aviation security screening.
- Weather observer training, including AWO Module 1: Fundamentals of Aviation Meteorology and AWO Module 2: Principles of Aerodrome Weather Observations.
- Airnorth RAMP and customer service training.
- Identity verification training.
- Certification for pressure feeders and over-wing aircraft refuelling.
- Current driver’s licence.
Eligibility
