Network Automation Engineer

Role overview

Tata Consultancy Services is hosting a walk-in drive for a Network Automation Engineer role in Trivandrum on 11 July 2026. The position is intended for professionals with 4 to 12 years of experience and sits at the center of building reliable, scalable automation for modern network operations.

This opportunity focuses on creating automation frameworks, orchestration workflows, service models, and self-service tools that improve network provisioning, compliance, rollback, and operational efficiency. The role also includes governance, validation, and secure handling of network-related automation assets.

Automation and orchestration

You will be expected to develop and support network automation platforms using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, NSO, SaltStack, and StackStorm. The work involves designing scalable workflow engines for provisioning, configuration, compliance, and other operational tasks, along with reusable modules, libraries, and pipelines backed by testing and validation.

Data modelling and service abstraction

The role requires building and maintaining models in formats such as YANG, JSON, YAML, and XML for configurations, inventory, and service definitions. You will translate business needs into logical service templates and maintain relationships among topology, inventory, and configuration data.

Workflow execution and integration

You will design multi-step workflows for provisioning, change handling, upgrades, and rollback processes. The job also calls for integration of orchestration platforms with external systems such as ITSM, CI/CD, CMDB, monitoring, and IPAM, along with support for scheduling, dependencies, and distributed execution.

Governance, safety, and compliance

A major part of the job is establishing coding standards, peer review practices, and safe execution controls for automation. This includes pre-checks, simulation modes, drift detection, secure secret handling, and automated compliance enforcement against policies, baselines, and golden configurations.

You will also build validation pipelines for posture checks, remediation of drift, and audit-ready reporting.

Inventory, topology, and rollback

The role involves maintaining dynamic inventory systems for devices, services, and configurations, plus version control for configuration changes and differential analysis. You will also support automated rollback mechanisms and topology databases that help with dependency mapping and impact analysis.

Zero-touch provisioning

You will develop onboarding workflows for network devices from Day 0 through Day 2, including integration with DHCP, TFTP, HTTP, Bootstrap servers, and orchestrators. Secure provisioning, validation, patching, and bootstrap configuration generation are part of this area.

Self-service portals and frontend work

The position includes building web-based self-service interfaces for starting workflows, viewing inventory, and managing automation tasks. You will also create dashboards for compliance, topology, workflow status, and configuration state, and connect them with backend APIs and authentication mechanisms such as SSO and RBAC.

Application and interview instructions

Applicants must have a valid EP number before attending the interview. If the EP number has not been created yet, registration is required through TCS iBegin. Candidates are also asked to complete the application form, download it, and bring it in hard copy to the interview.

For the walk-in, the required documents are: latest resume, TCS application form, original and photocopy of a government ID proof such as PAN or Aadhaar, and two passport-size photographs.

Eligibility criteria

Only candidates with full-time education will be considered. The requested educational background is BE, B.Tech, MCA, M.Sc., or MS, along with at least 3 years of relevant IT experience after qualification. Candidates who attended a TCS interview in the last 1 month should not apply. Referrals are welcome.
