Role Overview
The Network Acquisition Manager for APAC is a key player within our Network Strategy team, responsible for expanding and optimizing Cloudflare's network connectivity across the Asia Pacific region. You'll collaborate closely with the APAC Interconnection Manager to define and execute the regional backbone growth strategy, focusing on scaling major international links and enhancing reach into emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement of high-capacity network transport services including metro dark fiber, managed terrestrial wavelength services, and subsea international private leased circuits (IPLC) and cable capacity.
- Drive the expansion of Cloudflare's international backbone, reinforcing connectivity through important hubs like Singapore and Tokyo, and extending service into fast-growing markets such as Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, and Taiwan.
- Lead and negotiate standard to mid-scale large-capacity deals including Indefeasible Rights of Use (IRUs) and bulk capacity acquisitions, supporting complex subsea cable ownership negotiations.
- Partner with the APAC Interconnection Manager on regional growth strategies by analyzing market intelligence and shaping backbone expansion plans.
- Oversee network sourcing and contract lifecycle management: assess new and existing transport needs, coordinate supplier engagement and documentation, maintain service inventories, manage vendor relationships and billing inquiries, and support contract renewals.
- Adopt an AI-first approach using AI tools to automate routine workflows, enhance data accuracy, and derive operational insights for cost savings and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with internal teams across finance, operations, and capacity planning to ensure data integrity and seamless process transitions.
- Engage in thorough analysis of network performance metrics and SLAs to identify improvement opportunities.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network capacity acquisition, vendor management, or procurement within wholesale carriers, Telcos, ISPs, CDNs, or cloud providers.
- Expertise in negotiating large-scale, long-term capacity contracts including IRUs and fractional subsea cable ownership.
- In-depth knowledge of the APAC wholesale carrier market, pricing dynamics, vendor landscape, and relevant regulations.
- Familiarity with subsea cable systems, consortium and IRU frameworks, and international transport economics.
- Strong understanding of network technologies like DWDM, routing and switching, and fiber optics.
- Applied skills in network design for redundancy and resilience related to transport service procurement.
- Comfort with leveraging AI tools to automate workflows and scale operational impact.
- Proficient in complex data analysis and maintenance of inventory and tracking systems.
- Experience creating process documentation and standardized operation workflows.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience with AI-driven automation or analytics for network or business operations.
- Background in sourcing transport or subsea cable capacity within developing or infrastructure-limited APAC markets.
