Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated individual to join our Resource Consents & Compliance team as a Monitoring & Enforcement Officer. This position involves both fieldwork and office duties, providing direct services including investigating potential violations of the District Plan and Resource Management Act (RMA) regulations. The role is suitable for candidates at Officer or Intermediate Officer levels, based on their expertise and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct compliance monitoring of land use consents, ensuring alignment with conditions and approved plans.
  • Investigate and provide guidance on compliance concerning subdivision consents when applicable.
  • Deliver front-line service to facilitate legal compliance under the RMA and related standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrate a passion for applying the Resource Management Act and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Apply regulatory knowledge practically to assist the public with compliance and legal requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possess tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in Resource Management Act administration, surveying, architecture, building, science, law, or related disciplines.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships.
  • Show strong writing and investigative abilities.
  • Maintain a practical and positive approach in assisting the community.
  • Capable of interpreting building plans and legal documentation accurately.
