About the Company

Located just off Queen Street in Auckland's bustling central business district, ibis Budget Auckland Central offers 144 comfortable rooms over 18 floors, featuring balconies and kitchenettes. The hotel is a favorite choice for corporate travelers, leisure guests, and long stay residents due to its convenient city location near business, shopping, and dining options.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to support daily maintenance operations at the hotel. This multifaceted role includes varied trades such as painting, general building upkeep, and handyman tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Hotel Manager in maintaining the building, systems, fixtures, and equipment using safe practices to preserve hotel functionality, aesthetics, and safety for all guests and staff.
  • Coordinate with management on maintenance work in guest rooms and public areas to minimize downtime for out-of-service areas.
  • Complete maintenance tasks promptly, ideally within 15 minutes of receiving requests.
  • Communicate completion or delays of guest-related tasks promptly to the Manager on Duty or Front Office.
  • Recommend enhancements to improve services or procedures, report any problems with services or systems to the Hotel Manager.

Qualifications & Skills

  • At least one year of maintenance experience or related field; hotel or tourism experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Trade qualifications preferred but not essential.
  • Understanding of building compliance, risk management, and dedication to environmental sustainability.
  • Practical, hands-on approach; this is not an office-based position.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with logical and resourceful thinking.
  • Responsible, self-driven, proactive, and a positive team attitude.
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand.
