Live-in Caregiver / Special Needs Teacher for Young Adult with Autism

Role Overview

A private family based in Umm Al Quwain, UAE is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Live-in Caregiver / Special Needs Teacher to support an 18-year-old nonverbal young adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This position requires a warm, patient individual experienced in assisting persons with autism to develop communication, daily living, emotional, and social skills within a secure and nurturing home setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver personalized educational and developmental assistance on a one-on-one basis.
• Facilitate communication enhancement, social interaction, and daily life skill acquisition.
• Design and implement structured learning sessions, sensory activities, and recreational programs.
• Maintain a calm, supportive atmosphere that fosters confidence and emotional stability.
• Promote independence while assisting with daily routines as necessary.
• Utilize patient and effective methods to support emotional regulation.
• If skilled, apply gentle relaxation or massage techniques to alleviate anxiety and encourage relaxation.
• Oversee and actively engage in swimming activities when suitable.
• Work closely with the family and home support team to ensure consistent care.
• Keep detailed progress reports and observations regularly updated.

Candidate Requirements

• Prior hands-on experience supporting individuals with ASD, especially nonverbal adolescents or young adults.
• Preferred qualifications include Special Education, Psychology, ABA Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Caregiving, or similar fields.
• Demonstrated patience, compassion, emotional maturity, and dedication to assisting individuals with autism.
• Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
• Comfortable and adaptable to a private household environment.
• Swimming ability is preferred.
• Knowledge of massage or relaxation techniques is an asset.
• Commitment to a long-term live-in caregiving role is essential.
• Mandatory fluency in Tagalog.

Work Schedule and Benefits

• Work six days a week for 8 to 9 hours daily.

• Monthly salary of AED 6,000.
