Lead Production Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Lead Production Engineer to manage and oversee a team of production engineers in the execution of fabrication, welding, and assembly activities for packages within the oil & gas, petrochemical, and water-treatment industries. This role requires ensuring that all work aligns strictly with project drawings, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Aramco standards, and international codes, while also promoting productivity improvements and maintaining high-quality outputs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage production engineering team across various fabrication sections.
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to create detailed job packs and cutting/fit-up plans for execution.
• Ensure all welding and fabrication work comply with approved WPS/PQR documents and applicable codes such as Aramco, ASME, API, and AWS.
• Organize and prioritize production workflows to meet project timelines and maximize resource efficiency.
• Track progress, productivity metrics, and address issues related to rework or technical challenges during fabrication.
• Collaborate with Quality Control teams during inspection phases including non-destructive testing and dimensional verification.
• Develop, assess, and maintain method statements, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and relevant technical calculations.
• Contribute to planning initiatives by assisting in estimating man-hours and material requirements for projects.
• Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations to ensure safe operational standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives applying 5S and Lean manufacturing principles to enhance production line efficiency.
• Investigate and resolve any non-conformance issues by applying corrective and preventive measures.
• Provide mentorship and professional development support to junior engineering staff.
• Maintain communication with the Production Manager, providing updates on technical progress and emerging issues.
• Undertake any additional responsibilities aligned with the role’s scope as requested.

Educational and Professional Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering is required.
• Holding welding certifications such as CSWIP or CWI is considered an advantage.
• Demonstrated strong expertise in welding technologies and non-destructive testing techniques.
• Minimum of eight years’ experience in a fabrication production engineering role.
• Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams.
• Previous work experience on oil & gas projects, specifically with Aramco standards, is highly desirable.
