About the Role
Summit K12 seeks a Lead Curriculum Designer specializing in Texas high school mathematics for a contract position focused on developing TSIA2 mathematics curriculum. This 90-day engagement offers potential for extension or a full-time role based on performance and organizational needs. This role requires an educator with in-depth knowledge of Texas mathematics standards and the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2) to create rigorous, high-quality instructional materials.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide expertise as the academic lead on TSIA2 math content and instructional best practices.
- Develop and refine curriculum frameworks, learning sequences, and instructional plans aligned with TSIA2 standards.
- Collaborate with curriculum writers, instructional designers, product managers, and multimedia teams to create engaging, standards-aligned educational experiences.
- Conduct comprehensive content reviews to ensure mathematical accuracy, consistency, and pedagogical quality across all materials.
- Offer actionable feedback to writers and oversee final academic review prior to publication.
- Design and assess leveled evaluations including practice questions, model answers, and scoring guidelines, ensuring fidelity to TSIA2 expectations.
- Lead creation of instructional supports such as video lesson scripts, worked examples, remediation strategies, scaffolds, and interactive checks for student understanding.
- Work closely with multimedia staff to guarantee mathematical concepts are clearly and effectively communicated via instructional videos.
- Participate in weekly project meetings, provide regular progress updates, and maintain responsiveness during business hours for collaboration and milestone reviews.
Candidate Profile and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related discipline.
- Minimum five years teaching experience in Texas high school mathematics.
- Strong familiarity with TSIA2 math content and assessment standards.
- Proven experience creating or reviewing instructional content, assessments, or curriculum materials.
- Excellent written communication with the ability to explain complex math concepts simply.
- Proficiency with digital collaboration and productivity tools.
- Exceptional organizational and editorial abilities paired with project management skills.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with digital curriculum development, creating assessment items with scoring guidance, multimedia resource development, curriculum leadership, and familiarity with educational technology.
