Job Overview
The Laundry Supervisor oversees and manages laundry and uniform staff to guarantee a continuous supply of clean, well-maintained linens and uniforms. The role entails ensuring laundry activities comply fully with health standards and hotel guidelines while maintaining operational efficiency and high-quality output.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise laundry staff to maintain consistent quality and timely supply of linens and uniforms.
- Conduct staff interviews, supervise, train, schedule, mentor, and evaluate team members.
- Maintain laundry equipment and facilities in optimum working condition.
- Manage all laundry-related functions strictly following health and operational guidelines.
- Oversee departmental financial operations including budgeting, purchasing, payroll, forecasting, and inventory management.
- Report progress and issues to Housekeeping Manager or Executive Housekeeper.
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness standards abiding by established policies and procedures.
- Foster effective staff relations and handle guest concerns professionally with appropriate follow-up.
- Organize monthly communication meetings and monitor employee performance.
- Encourage teamwork within the laundry department and strengthen interdepartmental cooperation.
- Plan, organize, and recruit suitable laundry personnel.
- Supervise outsourced laundry services ensuring quality and compliance with standards.
- Ensure correct and economical use, storage, and handling of chemicals respecting environmental policies.
- Maintain appropriate linen and laundry stocks; constantly inspect linens and uniforms for cleanliness and defects, recommending replacements when necessary.
- Manage smooth linen flow across floors and outlets, and accurately track chemical consumption and productivity through monthly reports.
- Support laundry and housekeeping during peak operational hours.
- Keep work areas safe, well-maintained, and free from fire or safety hazards.
- Maintain accessible records, manage lost and found items, and participate in inventory counts.
- Adhere to proper telephone etiquette as per hotel standards and involve higher management for serious issues or approvals.
- Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.
- Address guest complaints with ownership and resolve issues to guest satisfaction.
- Ensure continuous supervision and scheduling coverage in the laundry department.
- Keep team updated on organizational changes and news, conduct daily briefings, and share operational highlights with management.
- Assist in recruitment and onboarding in coordination with HR, fostering high morale and a positive work environment.
- Develop staff motivation and performance through action plans focused on retention and satisfaction.
- Coordinate and ensure participation in trainings and refresher courses as scheduled.
