Laboratory Technician/Internal Auditor

Alliance Group is seeking an enthusiastic person to join its Laboratory / Compliance Team and help add value to New Zealand’s red meat sector. The organisation works across six plants and offices in New Zealand, the UK, North America, and Singapore, supplying premium grass-fed lamb, beef, and venison to more than 65 countries.

Location

The role is based at the Pukeuri Plant, just north of Oamaru on the East Coast of New Zealand. The site is within easy reach of Dunedin and offers a lifestyle-oriented community with local sports, clubs, schools, fishing, hunting, lakes, and mountain access for winter skiing.

The role

This is a night shift position within the compliance team, combining laboratory work with internal audit and verification duties. The role supports quality assurance, food safety, compliance, and continuous improvement while working alongside management and other teams.

Key duties

• Carry out internal audits and verification checks to confirm documented systems are being followed.
• Assist with laboratory activities such as sampling, testing, and reporting.
• Help maintain and improve quality systems, procedures, and workplace practices.
• Work to meet regulatory, customer, and company expectations.
• Support accurate data handling, reporting, and efficient day-to-day operations.
• Contribute to health, safety, and product integrity standards.
• Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams as required.

• Experience or qualifications in a food-based or laboratory setting.
• High attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
• Clear communication and the ability to work well with others.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office tools.
