Junior Data Analyst

About the Role

Global Furniture Group, a leading office furniture manufacturer based in the Toronto area, is seeking a Junior Data Analyst. The Data and Analytics team transforms operational data into insightful reports supporting sales, finance, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and manage dashboards and reports while conducting data and process analyses as needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and design models and analyses that enable data-driven decision-making.
• Integrate data from various sources to reveal insights critical to business strategies.
• Work alongside the IT department to build and maintain infrastructure enhancing business intelligence capabilities.
• Interpret data utilizing statistical methods and techniques to analyze results.
• Acquire and maintain data from primary and secondary databases.
• Ensure data quality by reviewing reports and performance indicators, filtering, and cleaning data.
• Partner with management to prioritize business and information needs.
• Perform other assigned tasks relevant to the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in analytics, computer science, statistics, business, or related disciplines.
• Familiarity with data models, database design, data mining, and segmentation methods.
• Experience working with reporting tools, databases, and proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language.
• Strong analytical abilities with keen attention to detail for organizing, analyzing, and presenting large data sets accurately.
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel and basic SQL knowledge; familiarity with VBA is advantageous.
• Understanding of fundamental statistics including standard deviation, correlation, and distributions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills capable of conveying findings clearly to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

• Python programming experience for data processing and automation.
• Knowledge of Pyramid Analytics or similar BI platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Exposure to IBM AS400, DB2, or comparable ERP data environments.
• Understanding of CRM systems data, for example OnContact.
• Previous experience in supporting finance or sales reporting.

Success Factors

Within the initial months, you will familiarize yourself with the reporting environment, manage routine reports independently, and suggest improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy. Over time, you will become a dependable analyst delivering clear, precise, and timely data insights while expanding your Python and Pyramid Analytics expertise as the team evolves.
