Role Overview
This position is a vital part of the Pictet Asset Management Asia Equity Special Situations team. The Investment Analyst supports the Lead Portfolio Manager by conducting detailed investment research within Asia-Pacific equity markets, emphasizing liquid, event-driven trading prospects.
Responsibilities
- Create and update proprietary financial models such as LBO, DCF, NAV, comparables for relative value, and merger arbitrage spread analyses. Present trading ideas clearly to internal teams.
- Continuously track reported corporate events, assess key risk factors, analyze risk/reward profiles and market expectations, and update assumptions rigorously and promptly.
- Engage actively with sell-side analysts, interact with company management teams, and participate in relevant industry conferences.
- Support portfolio risk surveillance and aid in the development and implementation of a comprehensive framework to limit factor risks across sub-strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
- University degree in Finance, Law, or Mathematics is required; industry certifications such as the CFA are advantageous.
- Relevant experience on the buy side (e.g., hedge funds) or at global investment banks, particularly focusing on equities, investment banking, or quantitative investment.
- Demonstrated background in Asian equity markets, solid understanding of M&A and equity capital markets; index rebalance knowledge is beneficial.
- Good knowledge of Asia-Pacific market regulations, including those of Japan and Australia.
- Strong analytical capacity, meticulous attention to detail, outcome-focused, motivated, cooperative, and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Bloomberg and Excel, including VBA skills; experience with Python is a plus.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, highly self-driven, detail conscious, diligent, with strong financial, risk management, and regulatory expertise. They work methodically, forward-thinking, and foster effective relationships with key stakeholders.
