IDS-Network Security Operations Engineer (SOC)

Role overview

This position is for a Network Security Engineer focused on IDS operations and Security Operations Center (SOC) work in Pune. The role calls for solid hands-on experience with network security tools, practical security knowledge, and the ability to work on detection and response workflows in a hybrid setup.

What you will do

• Build, fine-tune, and maintain IDS/IPS signatures based on specific operational needs, while keeping security and audit implications in mind.
• Handle troubleshooting across network infrastructure and related security devices.
• Apply threat-hypothesis thinking and use practical methods instead of relying only on standard operating procedures.
• Work across both network security engineering and security operations responsibilities to improve threat detection and response capability.

Required experience and knowledge

• Strong hands-on experience with firewall platforms such as FortiGate, Palo Alto, and Cisco ASA.
• Working knowledge of IDS/IPS technologies and their operation.
• Ability to analyze traffic using packet capture and inspection tools like Wireshark.
• Exposure to SIEM tools such as Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel.
• Experience with both Linux and Windows environments.
• Basic scripting ability in Python, Bash, or PowerShell is preferred.

Eligibility

Applicants should have a B.Tech or B.E. degree in any specialization. Candidates with a background in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field are especially preferred.
