Job description
Role Overview
The Housekeeper position involves carrying out various cleaning tasks to ensure guest rooms and hotel areas remain orderly and hygienic. Responsibilities include tasks such as bed-making, replenishing linens and bathroom items, cleaning rooms and public spaces, and vacuuming.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport linens, towels, toiletries, and cleaning materials using wheeled carts.
- Clean guestrooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other designated areas to meet health and safety standards.
- Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays, disposing of trash appropriately.
- Restock supplies including bathroom and writing items, drinking glasses, and linens.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage and supply carts.
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment regularly.
- Vacuum and shampoo rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and wood surfaces; perform waxing and polishing as required.
- Hang draperies and clean window blinds.
- Follow precautions to safeguard hotel and guest property, and report any damage, theft, or found items to supervisors.
- Clear debris from driveways, garages, and pool areas.
- Sort, count, label clean linens, and store them properly in linen closets.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Completion of some high school education is preferable.
- No prior housekeeping experience necessary; training will be provided.
Career Progression
Opportunities for advancement include roles such as Housekeeping Supervisor, Housekeeping Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager, General Manager, and up to Area Vice President of Operations.
