Role summary
The Housekeeper will be responsible for keeping the apartment community’s public spaces, common areas, and grounds clean on a daily basis. This role also supports the make-ready process for vacant units so they are prepared for move-in, working under the guidance of the Community Manager and in line with the property’s operational goals.
Key duties
- Carry out routine housekeeping across the community.
- Attend onsite work every day as scheduled.
- Handle general cleaning and trash removal in outdoor areas, residential spaces, make-ready units, and shared/common areas.
- Clean and prepare vacant apartments for incoming residents.
- Maintain the cleanliness of offices, amenities, and other community spaces each day.
- Respond promptly to resident and management requests, as well as work orders related to common areas, buildings, and units.
- Follow the property’s key control policy carefully.
- Report any noticed violations of community rules to the Community Manager.
- Use supplies, tools, equipment, and other property resources in an efficient and economical manner.
- Complete other tasks assigned by the Community Manager.
Resident and customer service
- Provide strong customer service and help ensure service requests are handled quickly and effectively.
- Contribute to a professional and positive image of the community.
- Maintain consistency and fairness when interacting with residents.
- Enforce community policies as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Education and experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or alternatively one year of experience in the housing industry. The candidate should be able to learn and use on-site software functions and must have basic computer skills. Working knowledge of Fair Housing laws and OSHA requirements is also required.
Physical and work conditions
This position involves regular physical activity, including climbing and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and step stools; moving through tight or confined areas; standing or sitting for long periods; communicating with others; and repeating motions with the wrists, hands, or fingers.
The role frequently requires lifting and placing items up to 25 lbs, working overtime, weekends, and night hours in emergencies, and exposure to hazardous chemicals. It may also occasionally involve overhead work, lifting or moving objects up to 25 lbs, using machinery and power tools, operating motor vehicles or golf carts, checking work for neatness and accuracy, identifying and inspecting objects, working in very hot or cold conditions, being outdoors in rain or wind, working in enclosed spaces, and moving across flat or uneven terrain.
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this role is $16 to $17 per hour. Compensation may also reflect experience, background, training, certifications, and other relevant factors.
Full-time employees are eligible for a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, accidental, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan with employer matching. Where applicable, commission and performance bonuses may also be offered. Full-time staff additionally receive paid sick days and company holidays.
