Heavy Duty Cleaner

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Heavy Duty Cleaner to maintain high standards of cleanliness for both indoor and outdoor areas of a property, ensuring satisfaction for owners and guests.

Work Schedule and Location

This role requires working on weekends: Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in Oshawa, Ontario.

Compensation

The position offers an hourly wage of $18.00.

Key Duties

• Clean and service all restroom facilities.
• Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors and staircases.
• Collect and dispose of rubbish and waste manually or with powered tools.
• Inspect the condition of premises and equipment; report necessary repairs, safety hazards, or needs for external services.
• Dust furniture, blinds, cabinets, doors, railings, picture frames, and windowsills using appropriate cleaning items.
• Polish furniture, metals, and chrome surfaces with suitable compounds.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning and toiletry materials.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, and fixtures, utilizing ladders as needed.
• Clean exterior grounds and parking areas, including removal of litter, glass, and debris.
• Transfer supplies and move heavy furniture or equipment using dollies, carts, or powered equipment.
• Replace light bulbs and fuses as required.
• Perform seasonal ground maintenance such as snow removal and salting entrances.
• Assist in moving garbage bins when necessary.
• Keep the compactor room clean and maintained.
• Carry out additional related tasks as assigned by management, adjusting to building needs.

Skills and Qualifications

• Familiarity with standard janitorial techniques, tools, and equipment.
• Knowledge of correct use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions accurately.
• Experience operating cleaning machinery like floor buffers and vacuum cleaners.
• Physical capability to lift loads up to 50 pounds.
• Understanding of safety and occupational hazard regulations.
• Awareness of building and property security measures.
• Effective communication skills for explaining procedures to others.
• Capability to prioritize tasks and delegate work efficiently.

Physical Demands

This role involves prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking and may include exposure to unpleasant odors, fumes, and potentially hazardous environments. It involves mental and physical strain and requires readiness to work typical 8-hour shifts, with possible adjustments.
