Role Overview
As the Head of Retail in India, you will assist the Managing Director in shaping and executing the local retail strategy across Cartier's internal boutiques in the network. Collaborating as a key member of the India Executive Committee, you will work closely with Boutique Leaders and stakeholders within the MEIAT Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of internal boutiques' business performance across all product categories, fostering a high-performance culture to meet sales targets and increase market share.
- Manage Boutique Managers and Retail Operations, partnering with HR and Learning & Development teams to recruit, nurture, and empower retail teams to achieve excellence.
- Maintain and enhance Cartier's brand image and awareness in India and at international events as a brand ambassador.
- Translate Cartier’s global strategy into a tailored local retail roadmap through performance analyses, market insights, and assessment of capabilities.
- Set commercial priorities, monitor KPIs, and secure turnover and category objectives across boutiques.
- Develop and implement the retail component of a 3-year strategic plan in collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Engage in budgeting, P&L planning, quarterly forecasting, and business reviews to ensure disciplined fiscal management within retail operations.
- Lead initiatives focused on high-end business strategies including VIP client acquisition and stock management.
- Head commercial, client, people, finance, and operational projects involving local and global stakeholders.
- Define boutique staffing and organizational structures aligned with growth goals.
- Participate in recruitment, succession planning, and establishing individual development plans and career paths for retail staff.
- Build and animate retail communities dedicated to product categories, high-end clientele, and specialists.
- Identify and oversee new retail opportunities, renovations, relocations, and lease renewals consistent with company strategy.
- Champion operational excellence by implementing best practices, process improvements, and ensuring consistent adherence to policies and standards.
- Work closely with Finance and Security teams to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Develop management tools and dashboards to boost boutique performance and retail professionalism.
- Ensure top-notch visual merchandising in partnership with local teams.
- Establish a client-centric culture, enhancing client satisfaction, loyalty, and acquisition through collaborative CRM strategies.
- Represent Cartier at local and international events, fostering relationships with VIP clientele.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a commercial or client-facing environment with at least 5 years in a comparable leadership role.
- Strong retail knowledge and meticulous attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset capable of transforming insights into actionable commercial strategies.
- Proven track record in driving sales performance and enhancing client experience.
- Financial acumen with the ability to handle P&L responsibilities.
- Experience collaborating across diverse teams and navigating complex organizational structures.
- Demonstrated agility and adaptability in ambiguous or changing environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and spoken Hindi preferred, with additional languages advantageous.
