Role overview
The company is hiring a motivated Global Logistics Analyst to run the central freight program and improve worldwide shipping performance. This position focuses on keeping shipping operations efficient, cost-conscious, and compliant while strengthening governance and the overall employee shipping experience.
Location and work setup
This is a remote role for the US and can be performed from any time zone.
What you will handle
- Oversee the global freight program and make sure company-wide shipping contracts are followed and fully used.
- Encourage use of preferred shipping solutions across regions and support employees in working with contracted providers.
- Act as the main contact for freight-related questions and guide employees on shipping matters.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with freight carriers.
- Study shipping spend data to spot trends, waste, automation opportunities, and cost-saving ideas.
- Create and execute methods to reduce shipping costs and improve the use of negotiated global rates.
- Own vendor relationships and freight strategy activities.
- Review carrier performance and negotiate pricing and service agreements for better value and service.
- Track KPIs tied to shipping cost, service quality, and program performance.
- Work with Global Trade Compliance to keep international shipments aligned with customs, import/export, and trade rules.
- Set up and maintain standards, procedures, and documentation for international shipping to reduce customs penalties, tax issues, and compliance risks.
- Put controls and audit steps in place so shipping expenses are legitimate business costs and compliant with company policy.
- Stay current on changes in global trade regulations and share updates with relevant teams.
- Support employees worldwide with shipping questions, including import/export steps, customs needs, and best practices.
- Create easy-to-use guides, training content, and documentation to teach proper shipping procedures and correct use of contracted vendors.
- Investigate and resolve shipping problems, including escalations, by working with carriers to close issues quickly.
- Find process improvements that simplify shipping operations and improve employee experience.
- Gather, review, and interpret shipping data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Prepare recurring reports on shipping spend, compliance, carrier performance, and program impact for management review.
- Use data insights to support decisions and recommend enhancements to the freight program.
Experience and qualification requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a similar field is required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation, with exposure to package freight.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping rules, customs procedures, import/export laws, and global trade compliance.
- Experience working with freight carriers such as FedEx and negotiating rates and service-level agreements.
- Solid business process analysis skills and a strong continuous improvement mindset, including automation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability, with skill in turning data into practical recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people across levels and cultures.
- Ability to document processes, workflows, and procedures clearly and concisely.
Preferred background
- Exposure to business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI is preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methods is a plus.
