Role Overview
The General Helper plays a crucial support role within retail food service outlets, contributing to smooth daily operations through food preparation, stock management, cleaning, and customer assistance while upholding strict food safety and sanitation standards. This position requires working efficiently in a fast-paced setting, across various retail food brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble basic food items as needed.
- Deliver courteous and professional customer service.
- Restock beverages, condiments, grab-and-go items, and other supplies regularly.
- Keep counters, dining areas, kitchens, and equipment clean and well-maintained.
- Adhere to FIFO protocols, portion control, and food safety guidelines.
- Assist with cash handling and operate POS systems when necessary.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools thoroughly.
- Receive deliveries and ensure proper stocking of inventory.
- Track product freshness and communicate low-stock situations to management.
- Participate in opening and closing tasks for the food service units.
- Comply with company policies, health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Working Environment
- Fast-moving retail food service settings.
- Requirement to stand for prolonged periods.
- Exposure to hot kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Potentially working across different branded outlets including coffee shops, quick service restaurants, and grab-and-go stations.
Candidate Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service or retail is advantageous.

- Physical ability to stand for long durations and lift items up to 25 lbs.
- Positive outlook and team collaboration aptitude.
- Fundamental understanding of food safety and sanitation.
- Possession or willingness to acquire Basic Food Safety Certification and Allergen Awareness Certification upon hiring.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
