Gardener

Role Overview

Green by Nature is seeking a dependable Gardener to support the upkeep of attractive outdoor areas throughout the Masterton District. This role involves assisting with a wide range of gardening and maintenance duties on one of our current projects.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of the Team Manager and collaborate with team members to manage all gardening activities related to the Masterton District Council contract.
• Perform varied tasks such as planting, pruning, weeding, blowing, spraying, weed eating, and general vegetation control to ensure excellent, timely, and safe maintenance.
• Establish and maintain gardens aligned with client specifications, following garden layouts, sourcing appropriate plants and materials, and planting according to specific needs.
• Manage daily operations at assigned contract sites to ensure smooth functioning.
• Guide and mentor trainees and fellow gardeners to foster a cooperative and effective working environment.
• Maintain clear and prompt communication with the Team Manager about any gardening or planting concerns.
• Ensure all work adheres to safety, compliance, and quality management standards.

Candidate Profile

• No prior experience required; a willingness to work outdoors and engage in manual tasks is essential.
• Possession of a valid full driver's license with experience operating manual vehicles is preferred.
• A strong work ethic along with a proactive and positive approach to tasks.
• Basic understanding of health and safety procedures or an eagerness to learn them.
• Effective communication skills to interact respectfully with colleagues and community members.
• Good physical stamina to perform duties that involve standing and bending for extended durations.
