Job description
Role Overview
This 16-month contractual position as a Production Operator is vital for identifying performance challenges and actively supporting improvements in plant efficiency. The role requires adherence to strict equipment parameters, vigilant equipment monitoring, and efforts to reduce efficiency and material losses. The facility is modern and inclusive, creating a welcoming team environment from day one. The operator performs diverse manufacturing duties on the forefront of production success.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate packaging machinery and occasionally provide relief to other operators, reporting any production line issues.
- Use computer terminals, including OIT Screen software and Laboratory Information System (LIS), for downtime tracking.
- Conduct daily maintenance inspections on lift trucks as needed.
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Autonomous Maintenance initiatives.
- Set up, manage, and troubleshoot casing equipment, including marsh printers, barcoding, and print/apply labeling systems.
- Make conveyor adjustments during changeovers and fine-tune packaging machines.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Prior experience as a production operator is essential.
- Strong numerical skills and effective communication abilities.
- Proficient English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Experienced in operating OIT control panels.
- Familiarity with automated casing equipment operation.
- Mechanical aptitude to sequence machinery start-up/shutdown and understand conveyor controls.
- Ability to detect line faults, non-conforming products, and apply corrective measures.
- Physical ability to repeatedly stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, bend, and stand during equipment operations.
- Willingness to work an 8.5-hour schedule with unpaid lunch, overtime, and varying shifts as needed.
