Job description
Position Overview
The Tower Hotel & Leisure Centre in Waterford is looking to hire experienced Food & Beverage Assistants to join their bar team. Candidates will be responsible for providing exceptional bar service during lunch and dinner, as well as supporting weddings, corporate events, private functions, and viewing appointments. The role demands flexibility for working midweek and weekend shifts, including late hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and courteously in the bar and event areas.
- Deliver professional bar service during lunch and dinner adhering to 4-star standards.
- Assist with event service including weddings and corporate functions.
- Keep all bar areas clean and tidy before, during, and after service.
- Maintain strong knowledge of menu items, cocktails, beverages, wines, and pricing.
- Take orders promptly with full understanding of allergens and dietary needs.
- Suggest and upsell food and drink options to enhance guest satisfaction and increase sales.
- Ensure all glassware and tableware are polished and ready for presentation.
- Maintain rigorous hygiene, cleanliness, and health & safety standards throughout service.
- Collaborate effectively with bar and hotel teams.
- Prepare and leave adequate stock and mise en place for subsequent shifts.
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally, escalating issues as necessary.
Candidate Requirements
- Availability for midweek and weekend work, including late shifts.
- At least one year of experience in a similar food & beverage or bar role is preferable.
- Experience handling high-volume bar service and functions/events is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and customer service capabilities.
- Positive, team-oriented mindset.
- Strong attention to detail in presentation.
- Familiarity with food safety, hygiene protocols, and allergen awareness.
