Role overview
Milaha is seeking a Fleet Manager in Qatar to oversee fleet technical activities, support maintenance performance, and help ensure vessels are utilised effectively. The role focuses on coordinating operational follow-ups, managing technical project activity, and maintaining strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
Internal coordination
This position works closely with vessel crew and the fleet and technical department. The aim is to support proper maintenance practices, improve fleet utilisation, and keep major technical and operational matters moving forward without delay.
External coordination
The role also involves liaising with external contractors and third-party certification bodies. Key duties include monitoring fleet-related technical projects, tracking project progress, and ensuring certification audits and related requirements are handled appropriately.
Occupational health, safety and environment
The role carries responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment and promoting safe systems across all activities under the manager's control. This includes supporting training, safe equipment, and clear information for personnel.
The manager is responsible for their own safety and the safety of everyone under their authority, as well as others who may be affected by company operations. In particular, the role requires:
- carrying out risk assessments for departmental work and ensuring safe methods of work are applied in practice;
- making sure all employees and contractors under their supervision are capable of performing their assigned duties;
- ensuring every accident, incident, and near miss is reported and investigated;
- setting the right example and encouraging strong safety behaviour in day-to-day work.
Authority
Managers and supervisors have the right to stop any work that is unsafe or where health and safety controls are being undermined.
