Firefighter

Overview

Ventia is hiring experienced Firefighters to support Fire and Rescue operations at Fleet Base West in Western Australia. This role sits within a long-standing Defence fire services partnership, with Ventia bringing more than 35 years of experience in providing firefighting support. A new contract was awarded in 2024 for a 6 + 2 + 2 year term, making this a timely opportunity to join the team.

What the role involves

You will work as part of a firefighting team responding to emergencies linked to vessels in harbour, aviation incidents, structural fires, and bushfires. The position also requires you to carry out tasks assigned by station management and to remain ready for operational deployment.

• Keep operational capability ready in line with the required procedures.
• Complete administrative tasks connected to operational responsibilities.
• Follow all workplace health and safety obligations.
• Attend drills and training sessions as needed to preserve readiness.

Mandatory qualifications and experience

Applicants must come from a recognised State, Territory, or Federal service. Candidates with international experience may also be considered if their qualifications align with current industry standards. Only fully completed applications will be reviewed, and proof of the following qualifications must be provided:

• PUA20622 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)
• PUA30619 Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)
• Current HR driver’s licence

Special conditions

This role requires the ability to obtain and keep a Defence Security Clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1 (Secret).

Applicants must also be Australian citizens, be able to pass an Australian Federal Police check, and successfully complete a CASA Basic Class 2 pre-employment medical assessment.
