About the role

The Finance function supports the business with accounting, strategic guidance, risk awareness, and decision support. The team contributes to both everyday operations and longer-term growth by ensuring financial clarity and confidence.

This position is for a Finance Manager in New Zealand, with responsibility for financial reporting, tax compliance, reconciliations, and audit support. The role is intended to help deliver accurate and timely financial information to the business.

Key responsibilities

Lead the monthly accounting close, including bookkeeping, variance review, and control activities using NetSuite and other in-house accounting tools.
Take ownership of reconciliations, financial controls, and SOX operating frameworks.
Coordinate and complete local statutory audits.
Support the preparation of the company’s disclosure statement.
Contribute to end-to-end regulatory reporting activities.
Work with the global Tax team on VAT and CIT submissions.
Manage accounting vendors and related service relationships.
Serve as the main contact for local finance matters.
Improve reporting processes by introducing automation and stronger controls to increase efficiency and accuracy across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
Chartered Accountant status, or a recognised local equivalent.
At least 5 years in a relevant role, or 4+ years of post-qualification experience in the finance team of a bank, financial services company, fintech, or high-growth technology business.
Background as an external auditor with exposure to financial services, or experience as a finance manager or accountant in a large organisation.
Strong accounting and reconciliation capability.
Understanding of New Zealand direct and indirect tax rules, as well as banking requirements.
Good knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP compliance.
Proven ability to build and improve processes.
Experience with NetSuite and data analysis tools such as SQL.
Preference for candidates with experience in a CA firm or in financial control roles within financial services or banking.
Advantageous if you have managed entities in a similar role.
