Registered as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity in the U.S., it operates in Ghana and Tanzania, aiming to empower individuals and communities through education, mentoring, and practical economic tools for sustainable independence.
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive Finance Manager to lead the Finance Department and support our mission of expanding impact in Ghana. This pivotal role involves guiding a team comprising an Accountant, Donor Relations Specialist, and Supply Chain Specialist, transforming financial data into actionable insights for leadership decision-making.
Work Commitment and Reporting
Engagement requires approximately 7 to 8 hours per week on a remote basis. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, cash flow, and accurate record keeping aligned with nonprofit and local governance standards.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions alongside timely bank reconciliations.
- Prepare detailed monthly and annual financial reports and assist with audit procedures.
- Develop and enforce financial policies, manage donor and grant funds, and ensure adherence to tax and legal requirements.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic planning and program execution.
- Collaborate effectively with leadership and program teams to ensure financial activities align with organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- Solid experience in financial planning, budgeting, and cash management, preferably within nonprofit or NGO environments.
- Proficient understanding of accounting standards, financial reporting, and reconciliations, with practical skills in accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
- Familiarity with Ghana's regulatory landscape, tax laws, and managing donor/grant funding.
- Ability to interpret financial data, prepare succinct reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical thinking capabilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; professional certifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA are beneficial.
- Exemplary integrity, dedication to the mission of SREF, with readiness to engage both remotely and onsite in Ghana when necessary.
Compensation and Application
The position offers a starting remuneration of $200 per month.
