Role Overview

The Extreme Cleaner position at VHA involves comprehensive household cleaning services tailored to support clients' health and independence. Duties are performed according to established client care plans and VHA policies, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to public health standards. This role requires working collaboratively with diverse client groups to maintain a clean and safe environment that supports clients' well-being and reduces institutionalization risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform extensive domestic cleaning tasks such as washing floors, sinks, and other surfaces; vacuuming and dusting; cleaning and organizing inside cupboards, stoves, and refrigerators; laundry and ironing; waste disposal; furniture polishing; and washing accessible interior windows.
• Complete tasks precisely as per client instructions using their cleaning products and equipment within predetermined time limits.
• Maintain accurate and timely time-keeping records in compliance with VHA policies.
• Engage in team meetings and contribute to service development and workload sharing.
• Participate in project teams as required to support agency initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• At least one year of experience in private or institutional cleaning settings.
• Experience supporting vulnerable populations, particularly those facing age-related health challenges or mental disabilities, is advantageous.
• Good physical and mental condition to meet job demands.
• Capability to work independently following established instructions and collaborate effectively with caregiving teams.
• Basic English literacy equivalent to Grade 8 level.
• Flexible approach to support a broad range of client needs.
• Possession of a valid Ontario G-class driver's license, with access to a vehicle and willingness to travel throughout Durham.
