Entry-Level CAD Drafter

About the Role

Custom Agri Systems Inc., located in West Fargo, ND, is looking for an Entry-Level CAD Drafter eager to begin or grow their drafting and design career. This role involves developing detailed drawings associated with grain handling, grain storage, and agricultural construction projects. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and field teams. This full-time position provides practical experience in agricultural facility design and a supportive environment for professional advancement.

Primary Responsibilities

• Produce and update 2D and 3D CAD drawings adhering to company drafting procedures.
• Support preparation of fabrication, construction, and installation blueprints.
• Translate sketches, engineering specifications, and notes into precise technical drawings.
• Maintain and revise existing drawings to incorporate design updates and field changes.
• Systematically organize electronic drawing files and manage project documentation.
• Communicate and coordinate with engineering, project management, and production personnel to assure drawing accuracy.
• Conduct drawing reviews to check for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
• Assist with material quantity takeoffs and documentation as required.
• Acquire knowledge of industry standards related to grain handling equipment and related infrastructures.
• Occasionally visit sites to collect dimensional data and other relevant information.
• Oversee procurement of materials and coordinate basic in-house production for grain handling components.
• Perform additional drafting and administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or associate degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or related discipline preferred; candidates currently studying are encouraged to apply.
• Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software is essential.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
• Ability to comprehend and interpret technical drawings and measure accurately.
• Motivation to learn constantly and receptiveness to constructive feedback.
• Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
• Preferred experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks.
• Internship or academic experience generating technical drawings is advantageous.
• Understanding of construction, manufacturing processes, or agricultural machinery is a plus.
• Basic grasp of mechanical drafting standards and ability to support site layout, including total station operation.

Physical and Work Conditions

• Extended periods sitting at a computer workstation.
• Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
• Willingness and ability to visit production shops or field construction sites.
• Capable of distinguishing colors, lines, and detailed elements within technical drawings.
• Office-based role with the possibility of site visits in West Fargo, ND.
• Standard workweek from Monday to Friday, with possible overtime during peak project phases.
