About the Role

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is actively seeking an experienced EMEA Occupational Health Lead based in Ringaskiddy, County Cork, Ireland. This position is key to planning, leading, and executing the occupational health strategy and programs across the EMEA region for DePuy Synthes, a part of Johnson & Johnson. The role involves promoting employee health, safety, and well-being by ensuring compliance with regional laws and alignment with global standards. A vital component of this position is supporting safety management, risk mitigation, and business continuity within a highly regulated manufacturing and corporate environment while acting as a trusted consultant to regional and site leadership.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the EMEA occupational health plans, ensuring integration with global policies and adherence to local regulations.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with occupational health service providers and vendors to maintain service quality, consistency, and cost efficiency.
  • Offer expert guidance on occupational health programs, wellbeing initiatives, relevant policies, and workplace practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Management, Human Resources, and business leaders to evaluate workplace health risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Guarantee compliance with occupational health laws, including medical monitoring, psychosocial risk evaluations, and necessary documentation and reporting across the region.
  • Support injury and illness management, including return-to-work and workplace accommodation strategies.
  • Analyze occupational health data and trends to develop preventative strategies and foster continual program improvements.
  • Contribute to broader regional and global initiatives focusing on employee health and preventive measures.
  • Participate as a member of the regional Crisis Management Team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Occupational Health, Public Health, or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • Additional professional qualifications or training in Occupational or Public Health are preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 to 8 years’ progressive experience in occupational health, employee health, or environmental health and safety roles.
  • Proven capability managing occupational health initiatives across multiple sites or countries.
  • In-depth knowledge of EMEA occupational health regulations and industry best practices.
  • Experience working collaboratively in matrix organizations with HR, EHS, Facilities Management, and business leadership.
  • Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Preferred experience includes exposure to manufacturing or regulated environments, familiarity with global occupational health operating frameworks, vendor management, and participation in change management or program standardization efforts.

Additional Information

  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other European languages is advantageous.
  • The role requires regional travel across EMEA, up to 20–30% of the time.
  • Relevant certifications such as Occupational Health Nurse (COHN/COHN-S) are preferred.
  • Johnson & Johnson is undergoing a business separation; employment terms may transition to DePuy Synthes within 18-24 months subject to regulatory approvals and consultation processes.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary for this position ranges between €63,300 and €101,315 annually. Additional benefits include an annual performance bonus, paid vacation, parental leave of at least 12 weeks, bereavement leave, caregiver leave, volunteer leave, and reimbursements supporting physical and mental well-being.
