About the Role

Join Pollock Scotrans Ltd in Bathgate, Scotland, as a Driver Training Officer dedicated to enhancing driver safety, compliance, and performance across our logistics operations. This role is crucial in shaping driver capabilities through comprehensive training programs, collaborating with various teams, and fostering continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement proactive driver training initiatives aligned with Group policies and processes.
• Conduct local driver inductions, development programs, skills training, Potential New Driver assessments, Long Semi-Trailer training, manual handling, and vehicle familiarisation sessions.
• Delegate relevant training tasks to Driver Development Coaches stationed at depots.
• Ensure adequate coverage of Driver Development Coaches across depots and provide direct training when necessary.
• Develop strong partnerships with operational management and coordinate closely with the central Learning & Development team.
• Deliver remote Driver CPC courses annually between January and April, support scheduled CPC training weeks, including full-week course delivery.
• Administer the Driver Smart 360 CPC program throughout the year and maintain compliance with CPC centre standards and regulations.
• Contribute to the ongoing review and enhancement of driver training materials and programs.
• Keep accurate and auditable training records in accordance with company policies.
• Engage in Continuous Professional Development activities and attend annual training events and familiarisation sessions.
• Complete the Driver Training Officer Development Programme encompassing PRIM Fleet Assessor, IOSH Managing Safely, Manual Handling Instructor, Level 3 Award in Education and Training, First Aid at Work, and other mandatory induction and safety training.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a valid UK Class 1 CE Licence with at least 3 years of driving experience and a clean record (maximum 3 penalty points).
• Flexibility to adjust schedules and willingness to travel across multiple sites as required.
• Comprehensive understanding of driver safety protocols, compliance, and best training practices.
• Strong abilities in coaching, communication, and delivering presentations effectively.
• Aptitude for building positive relationships with drivers, management, and key stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills with great attention to detail.
• Proficiency in IT systems used for managing training records, reporting, and compliance tracking.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary ranging from £38,000 to £42,000, based on experience.
• Work hours are generally from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with expected flexibility to accommodate business needs, including occasional night shifts and unsocial hours.
