Driver Helper

Position Overview

The Driver Helper role involves supporting the Driver by assisting in efficient, courteous waste collection along assigned residential routes. Key duties include safely loading waste materials, aiding maneuvering by directing the driver externally, and maintaining vehicle and route cleanliness.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Ride alongside the Driver to provide assistance during customer service on designated routes.
• Operate vehicle packing mechanisms and mechanical controls for lifting and loading waste.
• Clean waste residue from the truck's packing blades and body after each trip; ensure the hopper and truck are washed when necessary.
• Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections following company safety protocols and document any hazards.
• Engage courteously with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues to ensure routes are completed timely and professionally.
• Monitor collected waste for prohibited or unacceptable materials continuously.
• Manage cleanup of accidental spills adhering strictly to safety standards.
• Achieve departmental productivity targets to maintain efficient servicing of all customers.
• Comply rigorously with all safety policies and related procedures.
• Perform any additional job-related tasks as directed by management.

Preferred Qualifications and Attributes

• At least two years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Strong customer service skills demonstrating professionalism, honesty, cooperation, and reliability.
• Ability to consistently follow schedules and address challenges effectively.
• Adherence to company policies and promotion of safety standards without taking undue risks.
• Demonstrates pride in work and commitment to meeting objectives.
