Role Overview
Join The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer, responsible for conducting a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, primarily general X-rays, while upholding exceptional standards of patient care and safety. This role involves collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring precise imaging for accurate diagnosis, and adhering strictly to radiation safety protocols and NHS regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging examinations with accuracy and safety, focusing mainly on general X-rays.
- Provide excellent patient care by clearly explaining procedures and obtaining informed consent.
- Correctly position patients to achieve superior quality diagnostic images.
- Operate imaging machinery consistent with departmental protocols and safety standards.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines to protect patients, colleagues, and self.
- Review image quality before forwarding for clinical reporting.
- Conduct daily functional and safety checks on imaging equipment.
- Maintain infection prevention and control by cleaning equipment and clinical spaces.
- Complete quality assurance processes as required by departmental and regulatory standards.
- Ensure the crash trolley is fully stocked and ready for any emergencies.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, clinicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Keep accurate and compliant patient records and documentation according to NHS policy.
- Rotate through various department areas such as A&E, inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, and theatres to broaden experience and support service demand.
- Participate in a rotational shift pattern including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
- Manage workload efficiently, prioritizing urgent cases to maintain service delivery.
- Engage in continuous professional education and training opportunities.
