Data Analyst

Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Analyst for a contract position to assist a non-profit organization located in Toronto, Ontario. This role requires transforming extensive financial and operational datasets into straightforward reports, actionable insights, and user-friendly dashboards designed to support diverse business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain high-volume reports and advanced spreadsheet models that inform financial and business decisions.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to determine reporting needs, establish measurable goals, and translate business questions into technical reporting criteria.
• Design interactive dashboards using Power BI to deliver complex data in an accessible manner tailored for non-technical audiences.
• Utilize Power Query to cleanse, organize, and process data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Identify and resolve data quality problems through root cause analysis to maintain dependable reporting.
• Communicate analytical results and suggestions clearly to business teams and leadership.
• Provide guidance on data best practices and effective Power Query usage to less experienced team members and end users.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years experience developing high-volume reports and intricate spreadsheet analyses.
• Proven skills in collecting metrics and translating business objectives into detailed reporting specifications.
• Practical experience crafting dashboards and effectively communicating insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong expertise with Power Query and Power BI tools.
• Exceptional analytical and critical thinking abilities with proficiency in troubleshooting complex data challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey technical concepts.
• Experience mentoring junior staff or business users in reporting techniques and data management strategies.
