Role Overview

The Global Ad Technology Department (GATD) manages Rakuten's advertising platforms that power their services. As a Customer Success Manager, you will support internal marketing and ad product development teams from a technology perspective. Your responsibilities include identifying core challenges faced by clients, sales, and product teams, planning effective technical solutions, and collaborating closely with developers to advance projects. You will also facilitate technical collaboration among teams across several countries and organizational functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze critical business challenges for customers and internal teams; propose appropriate solutions.
  • Understand and align with business objectives and KPIs; coordinate with diverse technical teams inside and outside Rakuten to develop fitting solutions.
  • Assist in implementing finalized business solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Over 3 years’ experience in digital advertising-related system development, planning, or requirements definition, with direct communication with clients or business stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience in web or mobile app application development including programming and system design.
  • Proven capability to foster strong relationships with both internal team members and external partners.
  • Experience in project planning and execution phases.
  • A proactive, ownership-focused mindset with determination to complete tasks effectively.
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills for problem-solving; familiarity with data extraction tools like BigQuery is a plus for business problem analysis.
  • At least 5 years in the IT industry, including roles in system development, product planning, or sales.
  • Fluency in English and Japanese, essential for collaboration with Japan-based stakeholders.
