Role Overview
The Communications Associate will report to the Director of Marketing & Communications and collaborate with the Development Manager. This pivotal position involves crafting compelling narratives about EP's mission, programs, and inspiring partners to enhance the organization's visibility and broaden its influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Create diverse written content, including impact stories, interviews, case studies, blog posts, press releases, and other materials tailored to various audiences and platforms.
- Lead the filming, editing, and production of short-form video content.
- Maintain accurate, updated content on EP’s Drupal website.
- Manage communication systems like marketing automation (Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and social media accounts (Sprout Social).
- Design and produce physical marketing collateral aligned with EP’s branding for program development, fundraising, and events.
- Implement organizational communication, marketing, and engagement strategies across multiple channels.
- Conduct research and generate reports to support strategic communication objectives.
- Collaborate across departments—including program, development, and operations—to advance communication initiatives.
- Manage availability and distribution of EP-branded materials.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts including planning and supporting virtual and in-person fundraising events, campaign execution, and donor communications such as acknowledgment letters and quarterly reports.
- Participate actively in organizational meetings and contribute to effective teamwork.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes
- Two to five years of experience in nonprofit communications.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; adept at handling multiple priorities independently.
- Technological proficiency with file management (Google Drive), project management (Asana), and data systems (Salesforce); familiarity with Salesforce Account Engagement or similar marketing automation tools is highly desirable.
- Exceptional attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to distill complex information and diverse viewpoints into clear, engaging narratives.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams, departments, geographies, and hierarchical levels.
- Comfortable working with varied personality types and work styles.
- Capable of asserting expertise in a supportive role.
- Genuine commitment to EP’s mission and inclusivity principles.
- Experience in video editing and production preferred.
- Physical ability to remain seated for extended periods, operate computers and related equipment, and travel locally and nationally.
Compensation and Work Environment
- Full-time role at a nonprofit with a salary between $70,000 and $75,000 annually, dependent on experience.
- Comprehensive benefits including sick leave, new parent leave, four weeks PTO, paid holidays, retirement matching (after 1000 hours and one year), and medical/dental insurance.
- Fully remote work setup, restricted to approved U.S. states and territories: California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Texas, Virginia, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
- Employees receive initial and monthly stipends to ensure a comfortable, secure remote workspace with necessary equipment.
- Typical availability expected between 10 AM and 3 PM Eastern Time on weekdays for collaboration; other hours flexible.
- Quarterly in-person retreats coordinated to ensure full staff participation.
- Occasional on-call duties during project periods; travel and outside business hours work is minimal.
