We are seeking a knowledgeable Collection Development Librarian to join our Library team located at the Bebegu Yumba campus in Townsville, Queensland, Australia, delivering 36.25 hours per week in a full-time continuing capacity.

Role Overview

As a Collection Development Librarian, you will significantly influence the advancement and curation of JCU's academic collections to support exemplary learning, teaching, and research outcomes. This position demands expertise in managing resource access, metadata accuracy, and collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure outstanding library services.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain precise metadata and optimize resource discovery systems for seamless access to scholarly materials.
• Address complex challenges related to resource availability by fostering strong links with staff, students, suppliers, and publishers.
• Deliver insightful data analysis and reporting to guide strategic collection development and resource allocation.
• Support adherence to licensing agreements and participate in negotiations for cost-effective and sustainable resource access.
• Encourage a collaborative, performance-driven team culture through mentoring and skill development.
• Drive continuous improvements in systems, workflows, and service delivery by spearheading innovative projects.

Candidate Profile

• Hold qualifications in Library and Information Science or a related field, eligible for Associate membership with ALIA.
• Exhibit strong organizational capabilities with the ability to manage priorities effectively while demonstrating sound judgment and initiative.
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
• Have demonstrated experience managing digital information resources and library systems, utilizing data analytics to inform decisions.
• Showcase adept problem-solving abilities with knowledge of policies, procedures, and compliance to influence outcomes successfully.
